RFH Christmas Bash

With Christmas looming that can only mean one event The Rally for Heroes Christmas bash. As in previous years the event is shared with the Hampshire TVRCC in the fantastic Wardroom of HMS Excellent which is the oldest Wardroom in the UK and is steeped in tradition and history. A superb venue we thank Commander Shaw for all the work he puts in to make the event such a resounding success. Aperitif’s at mess prices is a great start followed by a traditional roast Turkey Christmas dinner with all the trimmings. Next on the agenda the charity auction with all proceeds going to SSAFA. Some jaw dropping items on the list, around of golf at Goodwood,Goodwood Revival and Festival os Speed tickets, a rugby ball signed by England hero Jonny Wilkinson and a full car detail on offer to the highest bidder. James “The Gavel” Mortimer took control of proceedings as the items were auctioned off, shame he’d left his gavel at home and made do with a spoon it didn’t quite carry the same clout. As the items diminished the amount being pledged was forever increasing while Benn wandered round with his credit card payment machine bit like a payment only bank. Nothing went to waste as table decorations and Special coloured light balloons were sold off have you tried sharing a cab with 4 people and 3 large balloons. Bacon butties at midnight before carriages at 1am. A fantastic night with over £4000 pledged at the auction at the time of writing the exact figure was unavailable. Wishing everybody a great festive period and happy New Year and the next event is the Autosport Show at the NEC.
